On June 1, TOUCH coordinated the local Feeding Our Families Food Drive in Rockland County for the second year in a row. This year’s event was a tremendous success, thanks to the dedication and hard work of our volunteers and partners.
Teams of volunteers stationed at Stop & Shop locations in Nanuet, New City, and Orangeburg went above and beyond, collecting a total of 3,917 lbs. of donated food and hygiene items from generous shoppers. Additionally, they raised $886 in small dollar donations. We are thrilled to report that the amount of donated food increased by 23% compared to last year, showcasing the community’s growing commitment to helping those in need. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to all involved in this tremendous community effort that put food on the tables of local families in need.
TOUCH’s role in this regional drive was pivotal. We partnered with Stop & Shop, NBC 4, Telemundo, and the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley to raise awareness about the food drive, recruit dozens of volunteers, and ensure the efficient distribution of the collected food to local pantries, including TOUCH’s food pantry for our members with chronic illness. Our collaborative efforts made this year’s drive not only possible but exceptionally successful.
A special shoutout goes to our Board Member Carin Clary for her invaluable help during the morning shift in Orangeburg. Her dedication and enthusiasm set a positive tone for the day and inspired others to give their best.
